Can a Jew be a Christian?

Why not? But..! But..! An oxymoron you say? "Well in this day of sex-changes ..." another muses, "....anything is possible." But it is natural? Or more importantly is it right? And especially is it right in the sight of G-d?
This question has been debated for nearly 2000 years between the Jewish community and those Jews who made the decision to become a Christian. The usual answer from the Jewish community is: once you become a Christian you are no longer Jewish. A Jew can be an atheist and still be Jewish. One can do yoga and other Hindu-Buddist oriented practices and still be considered Jewish. Belief in Jesus ends it all. Some families will disown relatives to the point of having a funeral when they are baptised into the Christian faith.
Arguments about Christian anti-semitism could hold true as the major reason for rejecting Jesus and Jews who embrace Him if history was replete with continuous Christian anti-semitism. However, there was an era when there was no such thing as Christian anti-semitism. It was back in the early centuries following the inception of Christianity into the world. In those days, the tables were turned Christians were dispised, rejected and persecuted. Yet, the non-existant cause of Christian anti-semitism did'nt stop the same old arguments against believing in Jesus and the rejection of Jesus was as strong (maybe even stronger) than today.
History has only modified in a marginal way the decisions of the first century. Certainly, it is unethical for any individual or group to blame the Jews for the death of Jesus. In a world where deception, sin, and the Devil have such access through the human heart and will, it is not surprising that an evil attitude and action sprung up almost as a reaction to the decision to reject Jesus.
What did Jesus do to deserve rejection? Did He teach contrary to Torah? Were His actions evil? All accounts seem to indicate that He did nothing but good. His ministry was the epitome of philo-semitism (philo = love, as in love towards). From all accounts there was nothing un-Jewish about Jesus. Can you find anything wrong with Him? This is what we mean when we say that it is necessary to get back to the original, the ancient source to get the truth of the matter.
If Jesus is not the Messiah, then the matter is closed. Any Jew or gentile that believes is simply deluded. Such an individual only becomes a threat if his/her beliefs carry over into unethical behavior. It should'nt be debated for 2000 years and a threat to a whole community if it is just a case of personal delusion.
