A long, long time ago there was a tyrant in the land of the pyramids. He possessed weapons of mass instruction. He told his advisors to enslave an ethnic minority of his nation. This weapon succeeded in persuading the majority citizens of Egypt to persecute their minority neighbors. No one was strong enough to stand up to this Pharaoh.
Efforts at diplomacy and historical precedence failed to change the Pharaoh from his purpose. He had been in violation of Ivrit Resolution 7-7 for quite some time now. Resolution 7-7 was also known as the "Joseph Pact" because of an incursion into Egypt many centuries previous. It seems that the tiny Hebrew nation of 70 persons arriving in Egypt, who were invited into Egypt by Pharaoh, came as a result of divine intervention into the affairs of Egypt.
First, that intervention took the form of "special opps" done by Joseph, son of Jacob. Then things developed into a display of Almighty might: Egypt had seven years of plenty followed by seven years of famine. This forthcoming action from God was known to Pharaoh by a dream that was interpreted prophetically by Joseph. This Pharaoh understood divine power when he saw it and surrendered. He agreed to the conditions spelled by Resolution 7-7: first fortune 7 (for 7 years), then famine -7 (for 7 years, the minus {-} sign is for the famine that consumed the prosperity of the previous 7 years). He appointed Joseph as his "Storehouse Inspector." At that time Egypt knew and Pharaoh knew that God was the authority over Egypt and greater than all the gods of Egypt. This resolution imposed a no-fly zone, so that even the winged gods were grounded, as it were, in the minds of the Egyptians.
But the conditions of the resolution deteriorated in Egypt and in time became rejected altogether. Pharaoh became defiant and started a policy of genocide against citizens of his own nation. He regarded the Hebrew minority as a threat and treated them as enemies. Two diplomats, Moses and Aaron, were sent from the divine side and attempted to negotiate a restoration of Resolution 7-7, but even after two demonstrations of power, the diplomatic options broke down. Pharaoh was adamant.
When war started, Pharaoh had underestimated divine power. Indeed, his heart was forced and his hand was stayed. When the bombs started falling, in the form of the 10 plagues, Pharaoh refused safe conduct for his minority people. The rest is history, except to say that the war ended when God, through Moses, captured the bridge across the Red Sea. It seems that Israel got safe conduct out of Egypt after all. And the tyrant? Well, he and his army were smashed by the Red Sea when that unusual bridge collapsed, in a sort of "parting of the ways."
There is another resolution that everyone needs to obey. That resolution is Divine Resolution Y-E-S-H-U-A, for He died to make forgiveness and peace with God possible. No one is strong enough to stand up to that most evil of all tyrants, which is called "Sin." That tyrant rules in every human being, but only Jesus can remove that menace.
