Parashah Lite Edition (Focuses on one verse or idea anywhere in the readings.)

The Bagel: Quiet Please!

"Be silent, all flesh, before the LORD, for he has roused himself from his holy dwelling" (Zechariah 2:17(13)).

Sometimes it is good just to be quiet. There is need in our day of rush, rush, rush, to take time to be holy. It is interesting in this text that G-d is stirred up and we should be quiet in the midst of this arousal. The expression "holy dwelling" only occurs in one other text of Deuteronomy 26:15 where it refers to heaven. Holiness and quietness sometimes run together. Much like Elijah and the "sound of a low whisper" because of the arrival of the Holy Presence of G-d (1 Kings 19:12). So during the noise of the holiday season: Quiet Please! Take time to think of all that Yeshua has done to bring redemption. For a day is coming when He will rouse "himself from his holy dwelling" and return from heaven.

Cream Cheese: Silence is also godly.
